If you are a new parent, you will need a changing mat. This is our take – it combines the beauty of 100% natural ilala palm leaves woven by Malawian artisans with a durable and easily-washable inner.
The basket has slightly higher sides to keep your baby safe. It comes with a soft inner covered in 100% soft cotton fabric.

- The quilted changing padding/mat measures approximately 2 cm in height. Please note there are slight variations in sizes (1 to 4 cm) due to the handmade process

Quality and safety check:
Safety is crucial during baby’s first few months, but how does KO-COON test Moses baskets when there are no standards for them?
Across the globe, the Moses baskets are not tested because they don’t tend to pass the safety tests, especially when it comes to depth, stability, strength, and breathability.
With these facts in mind, we designed our Moses baskets to comply with the bassinets' requirements.
We have a very strict and thorough quality and safety check for all our Moses baskets. The safety issues we test and look at are:
• Small objects: which could come loose and pose a choking hazard - Not the case for our baskets
• Sharp corners, edges, and points - Not the case
• Breathability walls - The weave chosen is to create a wavy pattern with a 3D structure that allows air to flow, as oppose to a flat weave.
• Sufficient depth: at least 25 cm height - Our Moses basket is 25-27cm all around
• Horizontal and vertical strength: 40Kg test press: Ko-coon passes this with flying stars
• Stability of construction - Ko-coon is incredible stable
• Entrapment hazards: head, limb & fingers - not the case for Ko-coo
Caring for Moses Baskets to avoid dust mites & mold:
Moses baskets are highly recommended by the Paediatric Professional Associations across the globe as one of the best solutions for co-sleeping.
But Dust mites, microscopic bugs, mold, and mildew in the Moses baskets are a problem one doesn’t often think of. We do. And we have the solution.
We reached and sought advice from reputable labs and professionals to make sure our baskets are free of mites or any kind of microorganisms. All our baskets are tested and stored in the ideal climatic conditions in terms of temperature and humidity.
As the lab experts explain, mites, mold, and mildew love wicker and palm if there are higher humidity conditions.
Very often, foam mattresses and other cushions create the perfect microclimates as the humidity is trapped between them and the basket. It doesn’t have anything to do with breathability, but with the lack of capacity to wick away moisture.
If the mold is left undetected, can travel very fast to the baby and lead to recurring bacterial respiratory infections and asthma. The same humid microclimate can lead as well to flourishing little bugs/mites.
The advice given by the lab are simple solutions to avoid all these problems:
• Air the basket and the mattress regularly (read daily if you live in a humid place). Do not wait to see the first signs of mold.
• Regularly take the basket in the sun
• Keep the room ventilated
• Ideally use a natural mattress with natural antibacterial, dust mites repellent and moisture management properties;
